Penny

Penny's whole gameplan revolves around her super, or rather, obtaining it. While she's not like Mortis, where getting your hypercharge is worth dying, it's still your utmost priority to get your lobber started.

Penny by herself is somewhat mediocre; Just a brawler with low damage, decent defense, and good - yet not GREAT - range. But once her lobber is deployed, your team now has advantage over the whole battlefield due to it's range. And, fittingly enough, once you get your super, your gameplan changes as well. Afterall, the lobber isn't that much more than a stronger, tougher, dumber, immobile, but longer reaching Tick. You have the ability to deploy the equivalent of a fourth brawler whenever you have your super available, which is just as strong as it sounds! But, of course, the mortar is even weaker than Tick at close range, since it doesn't have any kind of close range defense... Other than YOU.

Depending on the map layout, and the aggression of the enemy composition, you might want to play closer or further away from your lobber. The lobber's low accuracy makes it very vulnerable to direct attacks, so aggressive brawlers will want to get close to Penny to kill her and her lobber, but with Master Blaster, you now have a VERY strong fighting chance against them without the need of heavily displacing your super.

With Penny covering for the mortar up close, and the mortar covering for Penny at range, it's important to recognize how independently you can play from the lobber; If the enemy composition is passive, it's generally possible to play more aggro, leaving the mortar to do it's thing, but versus more aggressive teams, it's key to stay close by and defend your super.

All this makes Penny a really versatile brawler, capable of doing well in all modes and almost all maps, as long as there's cover to place down her turret behind.

Shield Gear (Effective): Penny gets a substantial health boost, which puts her over the threshold to survive one more attack from a lot of brawlers.

Speed Gear (Situational): Penny doesn't really benefit from the extra that much, but she's good in many bushy maps. Doesn't hurt to have.

Vision Gear (Effective): Penny has REALLY wide shots, and the spray can help scout, especially combined with her super. She's good in many bushy maps.

Damage Gear (Effective): Penny's damage is somewhat lackluster, so extra help here might help her pressure better or fend off assassins more easily.

Gadget Cooldown Gear (Ineffective): Penny benefits more from other gears, as both her gadgets aren't that impactful. Perhaps niche use for Trusty Spyglass in Heist, but overall not worth it.

Health Gear (Effective): Penny has slow reload speed, and her slightly poorer range compared to snipers can make faster health regeneration worth it to play more boldly.

Pet Power Gear (Situational): Not that useful outside of Heist, but noticeable enough to be worth considering. Definitely not a priority though.

Knowing where your mortar will fire, you can pre-fire in the direction the opponent can run away in and cut them off, forcing them to either back off or take the hit.

Since your coins split on the projectile - not enemy brawler - position, you can offset your attack a bit from the enemy's center to make more coins hit the target behind them.

There are not really any notable brawler interactions for Penny.

Penny, having rather lackluster damage and focusing on control, synergeizes well with brawlers that can make up for that by an aggro playstyle and heavy damage - Chester, Melodie, Ollie etc. will all be great choices.
